E Ink and LG color e-paper screens debut in Japan
The first electronic paper displays that can show color were unveiled Wednesday at the Flat Panel Display International show in Japan. The screens open to way for electronic book readers like Amazon's Kindle and Sony's Reader to add color but so far only a single Chinese device maker has committed to the technology.

LG Makes 'Optimus' Windows Phone 7 Legit
During the IFA trade show on Monday, LG announced that its forthcoming Windows Phone 7 devices will be called Optimus 7 (I guess Optimus Prime was taken?). LG didn't announce any specific devices, but shared details on what we can expect from its new Microsoft-powered smartphones.
The first feature LG boasted about is a new way to interact with DLNA content between devices. DLNA is the standard that allows certified devices to share media via Wi-Fi.
LG's Optimus 7 smartphones will be able to share 720p HD videos, high-resolution photos, and high quality music files with the flick of a finger. LG says that its software allows users to spot other DLNA certified devices, and then, by tossing the content off the top of the screen, share it with those devices.
That means users of LG's Optimus 7 Windows Phone 7 devices can share directly from their phone to their TV or home theater.
"This unique feature is a direct response to the growing need for technologies that empower users to share multimedia content across electronic devices," said Mr. Seong-jin Park, Vice President of Mobile Handset R&D Center at LG Electronics, in a prepared statement.
"LG Optimus 7 smartphones will be at the center of a complete entertainment experience, representing LG's leadership in mobile convergence." LG also makes HDTVs and other consumer electronics.
LG's Optimus 7 devices will ship in the fourth quarter, which is when Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 platform is expected to launch.

First Android Phone from LG - LG GW620 - pic and Video
LG has recently released its first Android-powered handset - the GW620 that comes in a slider form factor, revealing a QWERTY keyboard within. Dubbed the Etna during its spyshot/leaked days, this model comes with a 3" touchscreen display alongside a 5-megapixel camera. No idea on whether the LG GW620 will be the first step towards a total Android platform for LG, or will they continue to maintain a balance between Windows Mobile and Android smartphones in the future just like how HTC and Sony Ericsson are doing at the moment. Expect to see the LG GW620 arrive in select European markets later this Q4.

LG Preps Superslim DivX DVD Player
It’s not like DVDs are suffering a sudden death now that Blu-rays are finally being embraced. I mean look at CDs, they’re still around, even though most of us don’t need them anymore; music CDs still represent the standard and so do movie DVDs. Nowadays, one could recode HD content and make it fit only a single DVD. LG seems to be pretty interested in such techniques and has just announced the First DivX Certified DVD Player Capable of Playing HD Video.The sleek player comes in a slim format and can be mounted on a wall. It is known as the DVS450H, and supports the latest DivX codec that allows users to recode HD content so as to fit DVDs instead of Blu-rays, with minimal quality loss. LG’s new player uses a special technology.
"The demand for products that play DivX video has continually driven us to produce solutions that maximize this high-quality experience across a range of product categories," said Dan D.H. Koh, Head of Marketing Strategy Team in LG Electronics' Digital Media Company. "Incorporating support for high-definition DivX video on this DVD player illustrates this in a significant way. We are committed to bringing our customers the very best entertainment solutions and are pleased that working with DivX fulfills this vision."
The player integrates a special “floating” technology that enables DVD playback in both horizontal and vertical positions. That’s why LG recommends the wall mounting option. DVS450H will be available starting October for around $240.

New LG Black Label Series Mobile Phone
LG Electronics introduces a new Black Label Series phone that follows the LG Chocolate and LG Shine and promises to be as successful or even more.
LG only released photos and some highlights of the new Black Label handset. They did not even reveal the name of the new very thin looking slider style phone.
The new LG Black Label Series handset features a 5MP camera and a case design that utilizes materials such as carbon fiber and tempered glass.
My guess for the name of the new LG phone is LG Carbon - sounds good and highlights the carbon fiber in the case.
LG will fully launch the new LG Black Label Series handset on April 24th in Europe and the rest of the world.
