Samsung Flexible OLED display Hands-on

If there is one commonality that all high-end smartphones embody, it has to be none other than the fact that they're all simple pieces of slabs at their core -- and nothing more than that! However, every now and then, we are greeted with a kind of device that manages to stray from the tried and true design of today's contemporary smartphones. Even before the first official day of CES kicked off, we were able to check out Samsung's booth during Pepcom's event and witnessed something truly imaginary that makes you wonder about the endless possibilities that can grace future smartphone designs.

Samsung Wave II with 3.7-inch Super-Clear LCD

Samsung has unveiled a new Wave handset today – the Wave II. They already have the Wave 2 (Wave 525) but this is Wave II (S8530), the successor of original Wave. The new Wave II has got a subtle revamp and adopts a larger screen – a 3.7-inch one (800×480) but now comes with a Super clear LCD (we assume it’s the same as Super TFT) as compared to original Wave’s 3.3-inch Super AMOLED.

The Wave II has also got a bump on the software side and now brings some improvements like the inclusiion of T9 input method Trace. Think of it as bada’s version of Swype.

The phone will be available in November in Germany for a price of 429 euros ($588).

Samsung HMX-T10 - Camcorder with tilting lens

Samsung Digital Imaging has announced its new HMX-T10 high-definition camcorder, which aims to put high-definition video shooting comfortably in consumers’ hands: the camcorder’s lens features a 20-degree tile so users can hold the unit more naturally while shooting video.

“The HMX-T10 offers not only a stylish, compact design and fantastic recording quality at an affordable price, but also demonstrates the thoughtfulness and innovation Samsung brings to making movie and image capturing a truly enjoyable experience for everyone,” said Samsung Digital Imaging president SangJin Park, in a statement.

The HMX-T10 features a 2.7-inch swing-out LCD display, and uses a back-side illuminated CMOS sensor that Samsung claims offers twice the sensitivity of conventional CMOS sensors: the HMX-T10 can handle 1080/60p and 60i high-definition video (for NTSC, 1080/50i and 1080/50p for PAL). The unit features a 10× optical zoom, incorporates optical image stabilization technology to eliminates motion blur and shakes, stores video to SD/SDHC removable memory cards, and sports face-detecting focus as well as standard autofocus and manual focus functions. The HMX-T10 can also shoot 4.7 megapixel stills in addition to shooting high-definition video, and can capture stereo audio (in AAC) format, although it doesn’t support an external microphone. Users can get their video off the camera using USB, or push it out to a big screen using either composite or HDMI outputs.

Samsung says the HMX-T10 camcorder will be available this month for a suggested retail price of $299; available body colors appear to be black, white, and red.

The device will run on Google's Android operating system, with a capacity of 16 or 32Gb, expandable by 32Gb more.

It weighs 380g (14oz), and has an 18cm (7in) screen - smaller and lighter than its principal rival the iPad.

Vodafone has announced that it will distribute the device in European markets including the UK in October.

The tablet can connect via 3G networks, as well as wi-fi and Bluetooth.

Samsung YP-Q3 and YP-U6.

The YP-Q3. Perhaps a bit more top-notch than the other PMP announced. The devices feature a pretty bold color scheme, and as you can tell, the User Interface is built to match the particular device. On a full battery charge, the Q3 will last you about 45 hours of constant music playback, and somewhere around 10 hours with video playback. It has 5.1 channel sound support, as well as Samsung’s SoundAlive.

But, if you want something a bit more simpler, and without all the features, than the YP-U6 may be just for you. It’s a far more simple design, even if the colors don’t change, the display is only a color one, and won’t match your device. It features SoundAlive, and has a Fitness Mode that will help you count your calories while you do stuff. You’ll get about 20 hours of continuous playback from your music.

The competition between Samsung Galaxy S and Google Nexus One ( video)

Quake3 demo (Google: Kwaak3) running on my Android powered Samsung Galaxy S (GT-i9000). Can't display actual frame rate due to lack of hardware buttons so can't access the in-game console. I also don't have a Bluetooth keyboard and this video is just for a bit of fun. Phone had about ~85Mb free RAM at the time of playing.
