Dell announced its entry into the Tablet PC segment with its Latitude XT product.
The Dell Latitude XT tablet PC marks the first time the OEM has offered its own tablet PC for customers. Before this model rolled out Dec. 11, Dell had partnered with other vendors, notably Motion Computing, to deliver tablet PCs to its customers.
The Latitude XT will be available in two versions: a lightweight one and a little heftier one for better outdoor viewing. The configuration includes 12.1-inch LED-backlit screen, a 1.06-gigahertz Intel Core 2 Solo processor, 1 GB of memory, and a 40 GB hard drive, Windows Vista Business Edition or XP Tablet Edition and five hours of battery life.
The major focus here will be the application of touchscreen technology. Apple with its iPhone and Microsoft with its Surface PC have demonstrated the potential that exists in these next-generation interaction technologies.
The Latitude XT is priced at $2,499. is that expensive?Dell Tablet PC, Latitude XT Video
